THE FORMER college of India’s ex-prime minister has asked Oxford City Council if it can add anti-climb guards to nearby lamp posts and walls to deter anti-social behaviour.
Planners at Nuffield College say that people still climb onto the roof despite the walls being lined with barbed wire.
The college, which is part of Oxford University, needs special planning permission because of the historic Grade II listed status.
As it is, the brick wall on Bulwarks Lane is flat on top, 'enabling trespassers to climb up and onto the roof'.
Bosses at the college say this causes problems for security, and is dangerous.
The idea is to add spikes to lamp posts and to make the walls higher.
