POLICE tape sealed off a section of Cowley Road after two men were involved in a fight last night.

Officers are guarding the area taping off a number of shops close to the junction with Divinity Road.

Thames Valley Police said it is investigating after the fight broke out on Cowley Road about 7.40pm yesterday (July18).

A 57-year-old man had serious head injuries and was taken to hospital where he remains.

A 41-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning GBH. He is currently in police custody.

The cordon has been in place overnight and into this afternoon and currently includes Atif superstore, The Deli off licence unit, Kani Kebab, Pepe's Piri Piri, Pizza Roma, Toni's the Guy barbers, Exprizza and DesiGrill, Bodrum kebabs, Cafe Baba, erdem Food Centre and The Baron.

Business owners have the said the closure has stopped them from opening throughout the morning.
