OXFORD appears to have been beaten in the race to hold the UK's first citizens assembly on climate change.

The city looks to have been pipped to the title by the London borough of Camden, which has reportedly held a climate assembly, much like what Oxford is planning.

Ahead of its first meeting in September, Oxford City Council announced that 50 randomly selected residents would learn about the climate crisis and various emission reducing options over two full autumn weekends - before making recommendations.
