EMERGENCY repairs to high-voltage cables at an Oxford railway bridge are thought to have finished.

SSE began work repairing the cables under the railway bridge in Botley Road on August 6, which closed the road between the junctions of Beckett Street and Roger Dudman Way.

But Susanna Pressel, city and county councillor for Jericho and Osney, said in an email to residents today that the work has finished 'earlier than anticipated'.

She added that one of the footways could be closed overnight until August 23, but SSE did not respond to a request for comment.

SGN roadworks at the junction of Botley Road and Ferry Hinksey Road continued to cause disruption today.
