A LUXURY train described as 'Britain's version of the Orient Express' will be stopping at Oxford Station to collect passengers dressed in retro outfits.

Historic locomotive Northern Belle will carry its seven 1930s-style Pullman carriages into the platform next month on its way to the Goodwood Revival, a classic car and motor cycle event in West Sussex.

Oxford Mail:

Northern Belle managing director Jeanette Snape said she expected many of the 300 passengers will enter into the spirit of things on Saturday, September 14.

She said: “Fashion-wise, it’s back to the 40s, 50s and 60s. Many people go to great lengths to get the authentic look.

“So we usually have a glorious Goodwood mix of teddy boys, demob suits, land girls, mods, tea dance dresses and mini skirts."

Passengers will be welcomed on board the Northern Belle with a glass of champagne after the train arrives in Oxford at 8.30am.

Then they will tuck into a three-course brunch during the four-hour journey south to West Sussex.

After a champagne reception when they return to the train, passengers will be served dinner with wine during the journey home.
