NURSERY children have made some new friends with just a 90-year age gap as part of a project to keep the old feeling young.

Youngsters from the Little Ducks Pre-School at Childrey, near Wantage, have been spending the day with some of the residents at the high-class Richmond Village care home at Letcombe Regis this month.

The regular day trips are organised by staff, and the children and residents share lunch then spend the afternoon playing games, storytelling and doing crafts.

Elderly residents get an opportunity to share a few life lessons, youngsters to teach new skills, and everyone to reflect on and create new happy memories.

Four-year-old Flynn said he loved his visits because talking and playing with one resident in particular was helping him build his confidence and improve his social skills.

Katrina Sharp, who manages Little Ducks Pre-School Childrey, said that seeing the difference the project had made to both generations had been 'fantastic'.
