DRIVERS were held on the A40 near Oxford this evening, after a crash blocked the road.
Oxfordshire County Council tweeted just after 5.15pm today warning motorists to expect 'very long delays' on the eastbound road, heading towards Thornhill.

The crash appears to have happened at or near the Headington (Green Road) roundabout, and there were major delays on all approaches.
The road has since reopened and queues have cleared.
The A40 has been re-opened so we can resume to normal route, however, there are significant delays on services going via London Road/A40.

It is thought that three vehicles were involved.

All three emergency services attended.

A driver who was in the queue at about 5pm said people were turning their engines off.
He reported seeing at least two fire engines and an ambulance on the scene.
