A MAN has been arrested following a hit and run in which a motorcyclist was killed.

The incident happened on the B3349 Reading Road at the junction with Vicarage Lane in Houndgreen.

The motorcyclist, a 53-year-old man from Hook, died as a result of the collision.

The accident happened at 10.30pm yesterday when a silver-coloured vehicle was in collision with a motorcyclist.

The driver of the car failed to stop and fled the scene.

Police were searching for the motorist, who drove off after the collision but have since arrested a 25-year-old man who is now in police custody.

A spokesperson from Hampshire Police said: "We’re appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the vehicle make off from the area, to get in touch.

"The silver vehicle has been damaged as a result of the collision and we would like to speak to anyone who may have seen a damaged silver vehicle in the area.

"Officers have arrested a 25-year-old man from the Reading area as part of this investigation. He remains in police custody at this time.
