AS THE heavens open today a warning is in place from the Met Office predicting that it will last most the day.

Heavy rain is blanketing the county as thunderstorms are also expected to join in the mix.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the heavy downpours from 6am to 8pm with disruption expected.

It is also expected thunderstorms to hit the county from 11am, a brief pause in the wet weather with a few sunny intervals, and then a return of thunderstorms between 2pm and 6pm also.

The rain is expected ease off at about 7pm and temperatures will sit at about 16C.

Flood alerts have been issued for numerous areas across the county at risk of potential flooding.

This includes arreas around southern Bicester around Langford and Wendlebury Brooks, from Stratton Audley down to Merton.

There is also flood alerts around the River Evenlode in West Oxfordshire covering Moreton in Marsh to Cassington, as well as the River Glyme from Wootton to Woodstock.
