ONE of four men charged with murder in an Oxford street told jurors he saw one of his co-accused repeatedly stabbing the victim.

As the trial into the killing of Luciano Dos Santos Almeida continued at Oxford Crown Court Sasan Khalid claimed his co-accused said he would 'kill him' if he spoke out.

Four men - Michael Yemane, 20, of South Bridge Row, Oxford, Welid Solomon, 25, of Field Avenue, Oxford, Sasan Khalid, 19, of no fixed abode, and Safeen Abdullah Karimi, 28, of Hode Garth, Thame, are all on trial accused of murder.

Prosecutors claim that their victim was hit by a car at Southfield Road, Oxford, shortly before 11.30pm on February 27 before being repeatedly stabbed.

As the trial continued today the second of the four accused men - Sasan Khalid - took to the witness box to give his account of what happened.

He told jurors as the incident unfolded at about 11.30pm he 'followed' two of his co-defendants - Yemane and Karimi - as well as Mr Almeida up Southfield Road.

He explained: "I was following them to see what was going on because I didn't know what was going on.

"In the middle of the road Mr Almeida came back to Mr Yemane and Karimi and then I could not see very clearly because there was some cars parked, it was dark."

He went on that Mr Almeida then carried on running up the road and he noticed that Karimi had been stabbed and was on the floor.

He described feeling 'shocked and scared' at what was unfolding.

Khalid told jurors he then thought he was being followed and he heard a car being driven fast up the road so he carried on.

It was moments later, he told the court, that he jumped inside a car driven by Welid Solomon thinking 'we would just drive away.'

Instead, jurors were told by Khalid, Solomon left the car and 'stabbed' Mr Almeida as Khalid watched from outside the vehicle.

He said: "The only thing I saw was Solomon he was stabbing [Mr Almeida], more than once.

"I didn't want to see it, I could not see it, I just jumped inside the car again.

"I told them 'leave and let's go Welid [Solomon]' and mentioned his name as well and [he] didn't listen to me.

"I was scared and I didn't want to see it."

Khalid went on to say that Yemane and Solomon then got inside the car and Solomon stashed a knife he was carrying near the gears.

As they drove off, he said, Solomon made threats against him.

Khalid said: "He was angry with me because when I told them let's go he told me why did you mention my name and this place.

"I said I wanted to go out of this place and he said don't tell anyone about what happened, no one is to know about this or I will kill you."

All four deny murder and the trial continues.
