A CONTROVERSIAL incinerator is set to be built in the county to handle the deal with the area's waste .
Councillors were today told that no other suitable solutions were tendered by companies bidding for the waste treatment contract.
The incinerator looks likely to be rubberstamped at a meeting of the county council's executive next Tuesday.
Opposition councillors claimed they were denied the opportunity to fully debate the scheme at a meeting of the full council today.
Around a dozen environmental protesters paraded banners outside County Hall and handed in a 500-name petition opposed to the construction of an incinerator before the meeting.
