MORE than 100 singers gathered together at a Bicester school for a huge choir event.

'Rockies' from Banbury, Towcester, Aylesbury, Bicester and Buckingham flocked to the Rock Choir Big Sing at The Bicester School on Saturday.

The 150 singers were joined by award-winning singer and creator of Rock Choir - the world's largest amateur contemporary choir - Caroline Redman Lusher.

Caroline said she enjoyed speaking with members and listening to how singing in the national choir has impacted their lives.

She said: "I am so proud of them all. They sang beautifully led by their amazing Rock Choir Leader Liga Milune. We were also joined by Liga's sister and fellow Rock Choir Leader Kristiana, which made it extra special.

"They are both very talented and I am extremely fortunate to have them in my team.

"It was the most brilliant afternoon filled with music, laughter and emotional moments as the members shared some of their personal stories with me explaining how Rock Choir has changed their lives and given them confidence, helping to improve their well-being.

"It was clear there were great friendships and support in the Rock Choir community. It was very special and an afternoon filled with very happy memories."

Caroline built Rock Choir up from 100 members in 2005 to now more than 33,000 members across the UK.

People who sang on Saturday commented on Caroline's Facebook post.

Rachael Shaer said: "It was the most wonderful afternoon. Thank you so much Caroline for spending time with us. It was wonderfully uplifting to be singing again with so many lovely Rockies."
