'Absolute disgrace': People angry after 'disgusting' fly-tip at Bicester recycling bins

Clothes, pillows, glass bottles, books and board games are just some of the items that were dumped next to the bins in Villiers Road.

People who live in the town are outraged by the rubbish, and Bicester resident Sallie Wright shared her anger on Facebook alongside photos of the mess, calling out people for being 'lazy'.

She said: "This is the return of unacceptable rubbish that has been piled up in Villiers Road. People are too damn lazy to take it to the tip or use their own bins.

"I object to my taxes being used to clear up other people's rubbish."

Sallie said this is a weekly occurrence as no sooner is the area cleared, the rubbish starts to reappear.

She told the Bicester Advertiser: "It's an absolute disgrace and makes that part of the estate look like an inner city slum area. I have asked Councillor Les Sibley if he can do something about it. He has on occasion arranged to clear the rubbish.

"I have also asked for CCTV to be put up but from what I understand that is not an option. The alternative is to remove the recycling bins completely which will impact on those that use these bins correctly. Some people are a disgrace.

"Some people have zero respect in the town in which they live. Nobody seems to see them drop their rubbish so I assume it's done under cover of darkness. The bins are not full so there is no excuse for not using them.

"I understand this is also a problem at some other recycling areas around Bicester. Because of the sort of rubbish dumped there it will attract vermin and when windy the rubbish blows around the area."

Adam Wade said: "Pretty disgusting that people think this is in any way acceptable."

Cherwell District Council confirmed the rubbish has now been cleared.

A council spokesperson said: "We responded to the reports of a fly-tip and cleared the waste."

Bicester resident Jamie Jessett, who runs a litter-picking voluntary group in the the town and reported the problem to the council on Monday, said: "Outrageous. Stop fly-tipping. Most of this could go into town to our charity shops. We have plenty.

"It’s tidy now but it still needs to be maintained better and the person responsible needs to be fined."
