Sir - Many readers may be unaware of the current planning application for redevelopment of the site of Youngs Garage in Woodstock.
Replacement of the present collection of sheds, workshops, showroom and warehouse by housing and a new health centre and shop may be broadly welcomed.
It is also proposed, however, to demolish the former Blenheim and Woodstock railway station building, which is largely intact, retains a number of original features, and is the main surviving element of a notable episode in the history of Woodstock.
Anyone who feels that this part of our history should be retained and reused rather than obliterated is urged to submit comments on the application, references 08/1059/P/FP and 08/1061/P/DCA, to West Oxfordshire District Council by Friday, August 1.
