A charity dinosaur fancy dress walk organised by a Bicester cancer survivor has raised £1,800 for charity.

Marianne Edwards, an accountant living in Langford Village Bicester, organised the event after she was inspired to raise funds following her personal battle with breast cancer.

She said: "I decided to organise the fundraiser for Breast Cancer Now because I found out in July 2022 that I had breast cancer."

Ms Edwards was 38 at the time and underwent chemotherapy, surgery, and radiotherapy.

It was during her recovery that she decided to give back to the organisations that had supported her, including the Oxford hospitals and several charities.

She set the dinosaur theme due to her love of fancy dress.

She said she is "mad" for fancy dress, and was dressed up for all six of her chemotherapy sessions.

She added: "I decided to do dinosaurs because I already had a load of dinosaur outfits and I thought it might make people smile and be a bit different from your average fundraiser."

Donations can be made to the cause via Just Giving.

The 1.5 mile fundraiser took an hour and a half, kicking off from Sainsbury’s in Bicester at 2.30pm and concluding at the Nightingale pub.

The 23 participants, most of whom has never et before, dressed in dinosaur costumes.

Breast Cancer Now funds lifesaving research and provides support to patients throughout their fight against cancer, and was descried by Ms Edwards as a "brilliant" charity.
