Volunteers at the Earth Trust have been repairing nesting rafts for terns at Radley Lakes.

Thrupp Lake is part of the Radley Lakes complex, and the trust, based at Little Wittenham, manages it and some of the surrounding conservation areas to benefit wildlife and to provide a wetland reserve for people to explore.

Volunteers at the trust have been getting ready for nesting season by repairing tern rafts for Thrupp Lake.

An Earth Trust spokesman said: "Both rafts took a bit of a hammering in last year's wild weather, but one was in a particularly poor state, requiring removal of the buoyancy drums to look for leaks, and repairs to the decking.

"Handles were added to the rafts too, to aid lifting them in and out of the trailer.

"All shipshape and ready for launching on Thrupp Lake, in time for the nesting season."
