Pupils at a school in Abingdon got their first taste of playing the violin as they returned from their Easter break.
Year four pupils at Thameside Primary School were given a lesson by violin teacher Stuart Attwood, which was organised by the Oxfordshire County Music Service.
Headteacher Laura Youngman said: "We are delighted to be offering our year four pupils the opportunity to learn an instrument.
"It was lovely to see the wonder on the children’s faces as they held their violins - for many it will be the first time that they see themselves as music makers.
"Providing specialist music teaching, alongside many other extra-curricular opportunities, is just another aspect of our ambitious and aspirational curriculum.
"This ties in perfectly with our motto: 'Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day'."
