A driver training scheme which starts teaching children from the age of 10 is launching in Oxford.
Young Driver will transform parts of the car park at Kassam Stadium into a realistic road system.
A system will be created with traffic signs, roundabouts and junctions, along with areas to practice manoeuvres such as steering control and parking.
For children under 10, Young Driver offers the specially created Firefly Sport electric car at select venues.
The inaugural lessons for 10-17 year-olds in Oxford will take place on Saturday, June 15.
Events will continue on selected weekend and school holiday dates throughout the year.
One in five newly qualified drivers crash within six months of passing their test.
However, for those who have taken part in a Young Driver scheme, the accident rate drops to about four per cent.
Head of marketing at Young Driver, Sue Waterfield, said: "It [Kassam Stadium] is a large space so we can offer lots of different driving activities for young people, whether they’re a beginner or have already had a few lessons at another of our venues."
“Training drivers over a longer period of time allows youngsters to have a solid understanding of how to drive a car before they get anywhere near a real road."
Thirty or 60 minute lessons for 10-17 year-olds must be booked in advance and prices start from £42.99.
