THIS is the third and final section of the panoramic photograph taken at Bayswater School at Headington, Oxford.

The picture belongs to Tony Evans, of Grays Road, Headington, and was taken in his first year at the school – 1960.

As we recalled (Memory Lane, July 27 and August 10), Bayswater Secondary Modern School opened in September 1953 to cater for children from Barton, which was growing rapidly at that time.

In 1975, when Oxford adopted a three-tier system of comprehensive education, it became Bayswater Middle School, for children aged nine to 13.

In 2003, when Oxford reverted to a two-tier system of education, to fall in line with the rest of the county, all middle schools became obsolete and Bayswater Middle School closed.

Barton Village First School moved on to its site, adopting the new name of Bayards Hill Primary School.

Do you recognise yourself or anyone else in the picture?

And any more memories of the school to share with readers? Let me know.
