WHILE Dragon’s Den panellist Deborah Meaden drummed her fingers as another business pitch failed to inspire, a large charcoal-grey ring caught one viewer’s attention.

Charlbury jewellery maker Sarah Pulvertaft was watching her own work appear on the BBC2 programme – a wrap-around silver and gold ring, which costs £270.

The seed ring caught the eye of Ms Meaden at Gill Wing Jewellery, in London.

Other customers of 45-year-old Ms Pulvertaft include multi-millionaire Harry Potter author JK Rowling, who wore a specially-commissioned charm bracelet during a high-profile court case in the US earlier this year.

Ms Pulvertaft said: “It’s a really nice thing, as they obviously like the jewellery and they wear it. It’s wonderful when anyone buys my work, because it’s often invested with a lot of meaning.

“It’s great when celebs wear my stuff, because it puts your name out a bit more, but it means just as much to me if it’s anyone wearing my work.

“I do a lot of custom jewellery, a lot of engagement rings and presents for people.

“That’s just as special, as you build up a relationship with the customer and you make something for the customer that they will wear forever.”

And for just two days later this year, the jewellery maker will open the doors of her workshop, at Ranger’s Lodge, near Charlbury, to the public.

Her collections include intricate rings, brooches, ear-rings, cufflinks, bracelets and necklaces. Some are set with sparkling gems, from tourmalines and quartz to diamonds and pearls.

Buyers can choose from Ms Pulvertaft’s latest collections, order original jewellery or pick something from her end of line bargain box, where prices start from £10.

The open workshop event is on Saturday, December 5, and Sunday, December 6, between noon and 6pm both days.

Ms Pulvertaft said: “It’s a nice way for people to walk into your work space, as I think they find it quite interesting.”

Her work is sold at the Julia Beusch Gallery, in Oxford Street, Woodstock, and the Craft Gallery, in Goddards Lane, Chipping Norton.
