Police are appealing for witnesses to an attempted robbery on a student in Oxford.
At about 11pm on Thursday, October 8, a student was walking home after buying some food at the kebab van in Broad Street. He was followed by a man into New College Lane, where he was approached and money was demanded from him.
The offender was white, aged between 20 and 25, about 5ft 10in tall and slim. He had short hair, was clean shaven and was wearing a dark hooded top and bottoms.
Det Sgt Matt Jarman, leading the investigation, said: “When the victim refused to hand over money the offender threatened to use a weapon.
"The victim still refused so the offender got him in a headlock but he broke free and then shouted to attract people’s attention. The suspect then ran off down New College Lane into Queens Lane.
“I appeal to anyone who was in the city centre last Thursday and saw a man matching the offender’s description to get in touch.”
