THIS is the second part of the panoramic picture of pupils and staff at Blackbird Leys Primary School in Oxford.
The picture was taken in the school grounds in 1965, just six years after the school had opened with just 94 pupils.
As we recalled (Memory Lane, September 14 and 28), the school was little more than a building site in the early years.
Lessons were held to an accompaniment of heavy drills and hammers at work nearby as construction work continued.
But according to deputy headmaster David Munday, the children and staff rose to the challenges they faced.
The third and final section of the picture will appear soon.
Any more memories of the school to share with readers?
