OUR lives, over the past 10 years, have changed in such a way that we seem quite accepting of freely doing other people’s jobs for them.

We receive ever expanding lists and forms, from councils and businesses, asking us to complete and return them.

Their many pages include an increased quantity of personal questions.

Effectively we feed databases with information that can then be sold on.

Very often, to make you compliant, these forms are described as “wanting to check that the services you are receiving are to the highest standard...”, wrongly suggesting that you have some control over that institution.

The clincher is the nasty piece of positive discrimination at the end asking you to describe your ethnic background, e.g. black Caribbean, black African, white British, Irish, etc. (note: no mention of English).

Apart from the questionable legality, anyone living here permanently should rightly describe themselves as English, and should be equally treated by any official authority no matter what their family background.

But, while we’re sheep-like compliant, it won’t happen.

So when they come asking for your vote, ask them how they will free us to doing only our own jobs, not theirs.
