A two-car crash this afternoon caused delays for drivers on the M40.

The collision between a white Porsche and a black Audi blocked two lanes of the southbound carriageway between junction seven and junction six, with congestion stretching back to junction 8a.

One passenger was treated for minor injuries at the scene but did not require hospital treatment.

The road was reported to be open before 4pm, but traffic faced delays of an hour and 15 minutes following the earlier closure.

Drivers also faced queueing traffic on the southbound carriageway between junction nine at Wendlebury and junction ten at the Cherwell Valley Services.
