SILENCE once again fell over Headley Way in Oxford as the bodies of three soldiers were repatriated to Britain yesterday.
Twelve standards were laid down at 3pm as the bodies of the troops, all killed in Afghanistan, were taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital.
In all, about 200 people showed their respects as the bodies of Lce Cpl Chris Roney, 23, of 3rd Battalion the Rifles, Para Lce Cpl Tommy Brown and Lce Cpl Michael Pritchard, 22, of the Royal Military Police, were brought past.
Jim Lewendon, vice-chairman of the Oxfordshire Royal British Legion, said members of Lce Cpl Pritchard’s family attended the event, which had made it particularly emotional.
He added: “Although the weather was bad I was very pleased with the turnout.”
