Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted as he walked home from a night out in Witney.
At about 2.45am on December 18, the 19-year-old man was walking along Langdale Gate, near to the public toilets, with two friends when he was attacked.
He was hit three times around the face, sustaining a broken jaw in two places, which has required surgery.
His attacker is a white man, medium build, between 6ft and 6ft 2in tall, in his early twenties, with short brown hair. He was wearing dark-coloured clothing.
He is believed to have been part of a group that included another man and a woman.
Det Con Grahame Lea said: “This was an unprovoked attack where the offender subjected the aggrieved to a sustained attack, punching him in the face three times until he fell to the floor.
“The incident occurred at a time when many people would have been returning home from a night out. I appeal to the public if they witnessed the incident to come forward to police with any information.”
Anyone with information can contact Det Con Lea via the 24-hour Thames Valley Police Enquiry Line on 0845 8 505 505, or alternatively contact the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
