RESIDENTS across Oxfordshire have been warned to expect flooding after the Environment Agency issued alerts for six rivers and two brooks in the county.
Today the rivers Ray, Evenlode, Glyme, Thames and Ock, and the Letcombe Brook were put on flood watch, the lowest level of alert.
The River Thame and the Chalgrove Brook have been on flood watch since Christmas Eve. A flood watch means flooding of low lying land and roads is expected and people are advised to be aware and prepared, but do not need to take immediate action.
Flood watches in place include the River Ray from Shipton Lee to Islip and its tributaries, the River Evenlode from Moreton in Marsh to Cassington, the River Glyme at Wootton and Woodstock, the River Thames and its tributaries in the Oxford area, the River Thame from Marsworth to Shillingford, the Chalgrove Brook at Chalgrove and Stadhampton, the River Ock from Watchfield to Abingdon, and the Letcombe Brook at Wantage, Grove and East Hanney.
More rain is expected tomorrow.
