Ambitous Chinnor have linked up with Premiership club Saracens to provide a direct route for their youngsters into the professional game.

And the first player to benefit is their outstanding young flanker Dave Seymour, who has already played five games for Saracens 2nd XV, as well training with their first-team squad.

And later this year the blond haired wing forward, whose has modelled himself on French legend Jean-Piere Rives, will study at the University of Hertford, which is Saracens' training base.

The idea, which was dreamed up by Chinnor coach John Brodley after a chance meeting with a member of the Saracens coaching staff, involves a two-year contract with a joint registration.

This means that players in the scheme have the best of both worlds. They can learn their trade in South West 1 rugby with Chinnor, but still have the benefits of being involved in a Premiership set-up.

"It's a pathway to senior professional rugby for our better youngsters," explained Brodley.

"It's a two-way relationship, with Saracens sending down their fitness people to give us advice of training and diet, in return for us providing them with some promising players."

Seymour, an 18-year-old who has come up through the mini-rugby and juinior set-up at Chinnor, would appear to be the ideal candidate for the scheme.

"Dave is very focussed on becoming a professional player," said Brodley. "He is naturally quick, but his main asset is that he is so coachable.

"He is ready to learn and has the right mental attitude to succeed."

Saracens also call on Chinnor players for second teams if they are short.

Seymour was joined by clubmates Tom Johnson and DuToit Serdyn in the A side that played Wasps 2nd at Marlow on Monday night, when they went down to a 57-10 defeat.
