Oxford Triathlon Club's Iona Robertson was the star performer as Oxfordshire were well-represented at the Triathlon World Championships in Queenstown, New Zealand, writes KIEREN BUSHNELL.

Robertson, competing for Great Britain in the 20-24 year age group, finished an excellent 26th and second for Britain.

She completed the 1500m swim stage in 31mins 11secs, before clocking 1hr 21mins 18secs in the 40km bike ride.

And a strong performance in the 10km, running 44mins 14secs, gave her a combined time of 2hrs 36mins 42secs.

Competing in the ladies' 25-29 age category, Sarah Storrs finished 78th and 16th Briton.

Her swimming phase was completed in 32.01, the bike ride in 1.27.06 and the run in 56.37 for a combined time of 2.55.43.

Helen Peach also turned in a strong performance as she finished 44th overall in the ladies' 30-34 age group.

Peach produced a superb swim stage of 26mins 27secs, before completing the bike ride in 1.16.35 and the run in 41.27 for a combined time of 2.39.48.

In the men's events, Matt Barnes, competing in the 30-34 age category, was 72nd in a time of 2.24.07, while Robert Rickman (45-49 age group) was 79th in 3.02.26.
