Banbury Utd 1, Dartford 0: A goal from George Redknap was enough for Banbury to extend their unbeaten Dr Martens Eastern Division run to 14 games, and make sure of remaining in second place, behind Salisbury City on goal difference, after Saturday's hard-fought encounter.

Dartford looked the more adventurous early on, but United's defence stood firm, with Kieran Sullivan again in outstanding form.

In a game of few chances, Dartford were grateful to keeper Tony Kessell for keeping out Jimmy Simpson's effort on 22 minutes.

The only Dartford chance of note came in the 34th minute when Simon Tricker kept out a shot from Paul Sykes.

Dartford always looked dangerous in midfield, but gradually United started to take control of the middle of the park.

Banbury's 27-goal striker Norman Sylla was well marked throughout the game, with Dartford assigning two players to the Frenchman.

But that inevitably left spaces at the back, and in the 63rd minute, United exploited that through Redknap, who cracked home his 11th goal of the season, from Ollie Stanbridge's cut-back.

It followed great work from Liam O'Neill and Ady Fuller.

Banbury continued to control the rest of the game, but Dartford did enough to show that their rather lowly position in the League is a false one, and United had to endure a nervous extra five minutes injury time, before the three points were safe.
