Detectives investigating the disappearance of north Oxford woman Greta Verdin have received their first confirmed sighting since she went missing at the beginning of last month.

A woman, who police believe was Ms Verdin, was seen by a member of the public at 10pm walking towards Bardwell Road, near her home, on November 1. She had a black labrador, believed to be Zico, who belongs to her son.

Det Insp Dermot Norridge, who is leading the investigation, said: "This is the first sighting we have had which we feel has a strong chance of being Greta. It is significant as we have not had any other sightings of Greta which we feel are this positive."

Officers will be carrying out house-to-house inquiries in the north Oxford.
