A man suffering from Parkinson's disease drowned himself in his garden water tank, an inquest heard.

Frank Parslar, 53, was found floating in the water tank at his garden in Oxford Road, Garsington, by his family soon after he went missing on May 7.

His brother David told Oxford Coroners Court on December 4 that he had left his slippers and a stool beside the tank.

He said: "I was sure he was dead and I did not attempt to get him out."

The family had been searching neighbouring streets and lanes after he went missing at about 8.30pm.

Mr Parslar was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1996.

He had separated from his wife and lived with his mother Annie.

She found a note from her son two days after he died, dated May 8.

Oxford coroner Nicholas Gardiner recorded a verdict that Mr Parslar had taken his own life. He said: "He decided that he could take no more and opted to take his own life."
