Daredevil aviators John and Fred Holmes have been recognised in a book produced by Hanney History Group.
Frank Poller, with the book
The brothers from East Hanney made their mark by creating one of the first aeroplane "joyriding" companies in the country.
Retired education adviser Frank Poller, 77, has collected facts, pictures and memories of the entrepreneurial pair who set up the Berkshire Aviation Company in 1919.
Pooling their resources after the war, they converted a two-seater biplane into a three-seater so they could give passengers their first taste of flying.
Mr Poller, pictured, said the pleasure rides were common after the First World War.
"It was an activity that went on throughout England as men coming back wanted to fly," he said.
The book is available from Hanney Community Shop or Wantage Library priced £4.50 or by post for £5 by calling Mr Poller on 01235 868095.
