Ian Atkins has started telling his players exactly what he thinks of them.
The Oxford United manager has a clear picture of what he wants to happen at The Kassam Stadium during the coming weeks, and his first step was to talk to his current squad to find out who wants to stay.
Yesterday, he sat down with the first batch of players.
"I spoke to several players under contract and I told them, in no uncertain terms, that their performances this season have been totally unacceptable," Atkins said.
"Players have been training with the first team one day and with the youth team the next, just so that I can get some feedback from them about who is not happy with the situation and wants to do something about it, and those who are just going to accept it. "The fan base has been terrific all season, and the players owe it to them next season to improve - and we'll be a totally different team then.
"There has been an attitude of acceptancy here in the past, but now people are going to have to change - I don't care who they are.
"Early next week, everything will be a lot clearer. I have a list of players I want to bring in, but I won't even look at that list until I've put my own house in order first."
