The Conservatives are promising that their local election candidates will provide a brighter future for Oxford residents.
The party is fielding only 35 candidates in the city council elections on May 2, when 48 seats are being contested in 24 wards. The group has decided not to field candidates in three wards -- Lye Valley, North and Northfield Brook.
In a manifesto for Oxford, the Conservatives are pledging to:
Make appropriate changes to the controversial Oxford Transport Strategy
Work more closely with the police to improve safety and security
Replace broken paving more quickly, revitalise toilet facilities, provide better street cleaning and litter collection
Introduce a more dynamic and flexible but fair system for dealing with the homeless, housing transfers and repairs and maintenance.
