Frilford Heath's dismal start to the Shaw & Co Oxfordshire Foursmes League continued with a decisive 2- defeat at home to Studley Wood.

After being whitewashed by Buckingham in their opening Section 1 encounter, Frilford have just one halved match to show from six ties.

It is not as though Frilford are putting out weak sides. The only player they have lost from last season is Matthew Haddy who has gone to Bicester. "The standard of golf in the league has gone up tremendously," said Frilford captain Ashley Walton.

"The golf we've played this season, would have probably been good enough to win matches last year," said Walton, who salvaged Frilford's half-point along with Barry Mann.

The other two ties finshed in two-hole wins for Studley's Austin Siggers and Brian Forster, and Neil Pettit and Joe Fathers. Reigning champions Oxford City completed a 3-0 whitewash at home to Burford.

Hadden Hill continue to set a strong pace at the top of Division 2, with a 2-1 win over Brailes.

After two defeats, Tadmarton Heath broke their duck with a 3-0 whitewash of visiting Wychwood.

Witney Lakes won the Division 3 top-of-the-table battle with Chipping Norton, and now lead their west Oxfordshire rivals on wins, as they are level on points.
