Two ornamental sheep which have delighted hundreds of passing motorists at Bicester have been stolen.

Cllr Carol Steward and Sandie Stevenson on the lookout for the missing sheepThe wicker models, watched over by a wicker shepherd, disappeared from the roundabout on the town bypass, by the A41 junction.

Sandie Stevenson, a director at Vogon International, which sponsors the display, said they could have been missing for months, but staff only noticed last week.

She said: "We are keen to know where our sheep have been shepherded. "At Vogon we have investigators who manage to find data from computers, which people believe has been lost forever, but unfortunately our skills don't extend to missing sheep."

Town councillor Carol Steward said each sheep cost £200 to make.

Mrs Stevenson has offered to donate £250 to the Helen House hospice, in east Oxford, for information leading to the safe return of the sheep.
