A student from Oxfordshire is one of six British first aiders chosen to work at the Monaco Grand Prix later this month.

Red Cross volunteer Kate Wilson, 22, was picked for the event, after responding to an advertisement in the Red Cross magazine, because she speaks French fluently.

Kate WilsonShe will get free meals and accommodation but will have to pay for her flight and food. She is asking for donations to cover the £300 needed.

She said: "This is a great opportunity for me. I'm really looking forward to it."

The Warwick University student, of The Leys, Deddington, has been a member of the Red Cross for six years. She is an advanced first aider, and is qualified to resuscitate using a defibrillator and to administer oxygen.

During the Grand Prix, on May 27, she will be looking after spectators and trackside staff. She is pictured during a fair at Cutteslowe Park, Oxford.
