Pupils brought the big hills of Scotland, Wales and England to their own doorstep at the weekend.

Louisa Cantwell, 12They were recreating the "Three Peaks Challenge" on a climbing tower in the grounds of Cokethorpe School, Ducklington.

Pupils from Year 7 and their tutors tackled a marathon climb by going up and down the 26ft tower a total of 429 times to equal the combined heights of Ben Nevis, Snowdon and Scafell Pike. Louisa Cantwell is pictured climbing the tower.

The 24-hour event was the main focus of a charity drive to raise money for leprosy aid organisation LEPRA.

The session was also part of the Cokethorpe School's commitment to developing outdoor activities like climbing, canoeing and mountain biking.
