A new rose garden is opening to celebrate more than 100 years of rose growing in Oxford.

Mattocks Rose Garden, at Notcutts Garden Centre's at Nuneham Courtenay, near Abingdon, will be officially opened by the President of the Royal Horticultural Society, Sir Simon Hornby, at noon on Saturday, June 23.

The rose garden will occupy about two acres of the garden centre. Mattock Roses has been at Nuneham Courtenay since 1875 and was bought by Notcutts in 1985.
