A family of four had a lucky escape after a fire broke out in their home, a converted barn.
Firefighters used hose reels and breathing apparatus to tackle the fire in a bedroom at the house in Bell Lane, Cassington.
The fire broke out at around 8.15 am on Saturday and left the bedroom damaged by fire and smoke. The first floor of the house was also damaged by smoke. Firefighters were unsure of the cause of the blaze, though it is being treated as accidental.
The family were alerted after smelling smoke and immediately left the house. A smoke alarm was fitted.
Assistant Chief Officer Laurie Booth said: "The family did a good job of getting out of the property and shutting the doors. A well-fitted smoke alarm gives you an extra warning and saves lives."
