Tonbridge Angels 0,

Banbury United 2

AGAINST a talented Tonbridge side, Banbury improved on their recent form and thoroughly deserved their victory in the Dr Martens League Eastern Division.

Although there were no clear-cut chances from either side in the first-half, it was still end-to-end stuff.

The second-half though, saw Banbury attack for longer periods, with Matty Gooderick's runs proving to be a thorn in Angels's side.

The pressure finally told in the 71st minute when Simon Tricker, in 'route one' fashion, punted the ball upfield to Jody McKay.

He outstripped the home defence and hit a great lob over the stranded Joe Radford and just under the bar, from 25 yards to open the scoring in spectacular fashion.

Two minutes later, and it was 2-0, after the best move of the game.

Jon Corbett set Gooderick free wide on the right, and he played it inside to Ady Fuller.

He took the ball to the bye-line before pulling it back across the goal for McKay to slot home at the near post.

Banbury Utd: Tricker, Wallbridge, McCrae, Sullivan, Muckelberg, Fuller, Corbett, Smith, Redknap, Gooderick, McKay. Subs not used: Essex, Cramond, Brock.
