Councillors have decided to spend up to £47,000 to buy four public toilets in a car park.
The toilets, in Wallingford's St Albans car park, are owned and cleaned by Danfo under a leasing agreement.
But South Oxfordshire District Council wants to hand over the cleaning contract across the district to Specialist Hygiene Services.
To do so, the council would have to buy out Danfo's interest in the four Wallingford toilets, and members of the community services committee agreed to set aside £47,000 for the purchase.
Michael Jaques, the council's strategic director, said: "This will save us £38,000 a year when the public toilets in Thame, Wallingford and Henley are managed under one system."
Supermarket chain Waitrose has undertaken to move them to the Goldsmith's Lane car park free of charge if the St Albans car park is developed as part of its superstore project on the site.
