A city shopping parade will be alive with music, art and dance on Saturday, May 12.
A carnival is being planned outside the Banbury Road shops in Summertown, north Oxford, as part of the county's annual Artweeks festival.
Organiser Tam Frishberg, an artist, said: "We wanted to draw attention to Artweeks so we decided to hold a street carnival to highlight it."
Artists will fill the shopping area and there will be entertainment from around the world between 10am and noon
African drum group, N'goma Kembo, from the Congo, will be pounding their drums.
European folk musicians Muscadin will also perform, alongside violinist Sarah Hinds and guitarist Mike Morgan.
Other groups will include the St Edward's School jazz band and indie-rock band Catalyst, formed by pupils from The Cherwell School.
Martial Arts Dance group Grupo Abolicao will also be performing.
Pavement artists from St Edward's School will be on hand to help children create their own art and artist Groovy Su will be face painting.
The Turrill Sculpture Garden behind Summertown Library in Banbury Road will also be open.
Local cafes are enter the carnival spirit by offering cut-price refreshments.
After midday, Summertown artists will open their homes and studios. Visitors can find out where they are by picking up a guide of the Artweeks events available in many shops throughout the county.
Distinctive blue and yellow flags will be hoisted outside homes and studios taking part in the festival.
All visual arts from papier mache creations, to paintings, to glass models, pottery, jewellery and much more will be on display at homes and studios during the Artsweeks Festival.
Summertown artists' homes and studios will open until May 20, after which the festival moves to north Oxfordshire until May 27, then south Oxfordshire from May 26 to June 23.
