Pianist Daniel Chambers has set himself an ambitious target - to raise more than £1,000 for charity.

The 15-year-old, of Cowley Road, Littlemore, Oxford, is aiming to raise the money for the Radcliffe Medical Foundation Children's Critical Care project.

He will play in a piano recital at the Jacqueline du Pre Music building at St Hilda's College, Oxford.

The hall has 210 seats and he has sold 50 tickets so far. Daniel said it was his ambition a month ago before he started selling tickets to fill every seat.

He said: "I was told I was being a little over ambitious but we have not given up hope yet."

Daniel started playing the piano at the age of three and the organ at 13. He is now the church organist at St Andrew's Church, Sandford-on-Thames.

Christian Bradley, winner of the Lieder Class at this year's Oxford Music Festival, will be singing at the 3pm recital on Sunday. Call 01865 773949 for tickets, which cost £4 and £7.

The critical care project aims to create a separate, less stressful waiting area for children as part of the redevelopment of the accident and emergency department at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford.
