JT/Fox Oxford Cheetahs, riding high at the top of the Sky Sports Elite League, hope to send Ipswich Witches into orbit tonight, brooms and all, to maintain that position in their encounter at the Stadium (7.30pm).

Cheetahs come into the meeting full of confidence after the biggest crowd for over ten years saw them annihilate Belle Vue on Good Friday.

Leading the charge was the inspirational Leigh Adams in a spanking all-round display. But all eyes will be on the Dryml brothers, Lukas and Ales, to see if they can repeat their heroic efforts, where Lukas hit a best-ever score of paid 14, with Ales scoring paid nine points.

There was hectic activity in the Elite League over Easter, and with all the results in, Cheetahs retain the No 1 spot.

But they go into tonight's tough-looking encounter knowing that nothing less than a win will do, as the Witches are just two points behind them in the table.

Promoter Vanessa Purchase is eagerly anticipating a repeat performance from the team this week, although she admitted to being nervous last Friday.

"With the noise from the crowd, and the sheer numbers in the stadium, it was very nerve wracking," she said.

"I will admit that I had butterflies in my stomach until I could see the result was ours. The team were just brilliant and I was so proud of them."

Oxford welcome back former Cheetahs Craig Boyce and Jason Bunyan, but the real dangermen are Chris Louis and Scott Nicholls, both of whom ride the Sandy Lane circuit very well.

New Polish youngster Hampel also looks promising, and with old hand Jeremy Doncaster back in form, it all points to a much closer affair than last week.
