The ban on taking Oxfordshire livestock to abattoirs for slaughter will be lifted on Monday.
This will come as a relief to farmers whose animals have gained weight beyond the point at which they should have been slaughtered.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAFF) said farmers within Oxfordshire's 'infected area' will be able to apply for licences for take livestock to abattoirs from Monday - unless they are within 3km zones surrounding the two confirmed outbreaks in Little Chesterton and South Hinksey.
However, David Orpwood, National Farmers Union chairman for Oxfordshire, said this would not help farmers like himself who sold on live animals.
Movements of animals between farms in the 'infected area' of Oxfordshire - about half the county - are still banned. Mr Orpwood said infected area restrictions should have been lifted by now.
