The hunt is on for talented young singers from the region whose professional careers could benefit from a boost.
The Oxfordshire Youth Music Trust is offering help and support through the 2001 Thames Valley Young Musicians' Platform, launched yesterday at the Jacqueline du Pre building at St Hilda's College, east Oxford. It included a recital by soprano Kateriana Fenech, one of the 1999 winners.
The search is for singers who must have been born or educated, or be living or working in either Berkshire or Oxfordshire, and aged between 20 and 28.
The event offers promotional help in the form of paid engagements and other support.
The initial selection will be made from written applications and audition tapes, and shortlisted singers will take part in the final auditions at the college in July.
