Town councillors say they regret the loss of a corner shop which has closed after more than 50 years.
But members of Thame Town Council accepted the shop, at 1 Queens Road, had been losing business for some time. They said a new shop at a nearby garage had been the final nail in the coffin.
Mayor Don Butler said: "It is a great pity but these things happen. It is with a lot of regret that we see the shop closing."
The application for the shop area to be incorporated into the existing house as a lounge is now before South Oxfordshire District Council.
Two weeks ago, planners refused to allow the conversion of the former electrical shop in North Street into a house until it has been marketed properly as a going concern.
