Town councillors have given the go-ahead to a millennium fountain for Bicester.
Members of the town's Rotary Club are donating the £7,000 fountain for the ornamental pond in Garth Park, Launton Road.
The three-tier fountain was devised by Rotarian John Sermon, a designer, who until recently lived in nearby Hethe.
The fountain will be part of a refurbishment of the pond, which needs a new lining and edging. The repairs will cost the town council about £4,000.
Town Mayor Debbie Pickford told the council's environment committee that it was going to have to pay for renovations to the pond, whether or not a fountain was added.
Work on the pond and fountain is expected to begin soon so that it can be completed by the time judges tour the town for the Chiltern heat of the Britain in Bloom competition.
